'Sesame' recently came to see Dr Andrew as her owner noticed little drops of red tinged urine on the ground and then her going in and out of the litter tray seemingly doing small drops.
A black and white entire male cat estimated to be around 4-6 months old has been found near Piptree Sunnybank Hills at 279 Gowan Road, Sunnybank Hills. He has green eyes and a white patch under his arms and on his chest. The cat isn't microchipped but is super friendly and in good condition.
Please give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 if this is your cat as we would love to reunite him with his owners. We close at 6pm but will reopen at 8am on 13/03.
Edit: thanks everyone for spreading the word, we have found the owner and he is now home! ... See MoreSee Less
For our clients who have catβs on medication or have a household that uses medication, there is a recycling initiative all over Australia rolled out in most pharmacies, in particular Chemist Warehouse and My chemist.
The recycling initiative is carried out by Pharmacycle, a blister pack recycling program in Australia that provides an end-to-end recycling solution.
As a clinic that has measures in place to reduce landfill and recycle accordingly we are happy to take empty blister packs for recycling, otherwise most pharmacies across the country have designated recycling bins near their dispensary section.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day we'd love to remind our clients of hazardous items to your pets that come around this time of year:
πΈ Lilies are highly toxic to cats and can cause life threatening illness or death if any part of the plant or water is ingested.
πΉ Roses come with scary looking thorns that your furry friend can step on or ingest. Play it safe by keeping them trimmed and on a counter away from playful paws.
π« Chocolate and lollies are not a pets best friend. They include ingredients such as methylxanthines and xylitol which if ingested can cause a range of symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and in some cases death if left untreated.
π· Wine, cocktails and beer can cause alcohol poisoning in pets so make sure no glasses are left unattended and spillage is wiped up.
π Gift wrapping is a sight for curious eyes. Curious cats and dogs may try to play with, chew on or swallow ribbons and wrapping paper so make sure they are being placed in the bin.
π―οΈ Candles are another hazard on Valentine's Day. The general rule is to not leave candles unattended but with animals around they should also be kept high and out of reach from wandering paws. ... See MoreSee Less
Pepsi came to see us for a general check up, dental and senior check up. The senior check up is recommended in cats from the age of 8 as they are heading towards the more senior stage of their lives so it can pick up any senior issues early.
Our senior check ups include a general check up, blood and urine testing, blood glucose test and a complimentary blood pressure check (which is valued at $50). We can also do nail trims along with these appointments free of charge as older cats don't tend to sharpen their nails as often, therefore leaving the outer layer on.
In the end Pepsi had to have some of his teeth removed due to a tooth resorption issue. This resorption issue is most common in cats and is a disease in which the tooth and its roots slowly reabsorb. Tooth resorption is quite painful and can affect a cat's eating habit.
Regular check ups with your vet can help detect teeth issues early on.
This is Creamy! Some of you might remember Creamy as she has featured quite regularly on our stories. She's grown so much since we last saw her. She recently came to see us as she wasn't eating as much as she usually does and wasn't her usual self.
When cats are unwell, they are very good at hiding their sickness. Small things such as your cat not eating as much, quieter then usual, personality change, change in toileting habits and sleeping more often could be a sign that your cat is unwell.
We had Simba come in recently as his owners noticed a small wound on his face. Luckily it wasn't a very bad wound and was already healing quite nicely.
If you notice any wounds on your cat, it's always best to get them checked out by the vet as there is always a risk it will get worse, it won't heal and your cat might be in pain.
